Living at elevation has some advantages. It can also be a challenge for those who have pre-existing health conditions. There are some studies that show that people who have grown-up at high altitude have lower cancer rates. These statistics are encouraging but are certainly not as applicable to North Americans of retirement age who decide to move to high altitude in their 60′s and 70′s.
